In the Dark

Last Sunday we had a wind storm, and power was knocked out over a large area. As of tonight, there are still over 100,000 homes here without power, six days later.
We were lucky; in other parts of the country people lost their homes and still have not returned. I can't begin to imagine what that must be like.

I can handle a few hours with no power but after that initial spell of pretending to be a frontier gal I start to want to plug the electric kettle in, or to turn the television on. We had a hurricane hit here a few years back and people in the next community, a 10 minute car ride away - lost their power for over a week (this time of year fortunately - not in winter). A week without power. Wow I can't even conceive it. We are SO spoiled ... and the saddest part is ... we don't even realize how spoiled we are. Cheers from Nova Scotia. xo, S, Winn & les Boys
