Where Were They Then?

Republicans in Congress don't make any sense to me. They are all about balancing the budget... now.

My question to them: where were you when George Bush was converting a surplus to a deficit?


The chart says it all. When Bush took office there was a surplus of over $200 billion. In no time at all he spent down the surplus and created of deficit of up to $400 billion. Where was all the fuss from Republicans in Congress then?

Another chart, below: W's father didn't do so well, either. And look at the deficit under their hero Reagan. I'm sorry, but I can't help but think about this every time I see one of them decrying our current deficit.


Oh, wait! I know how to reduce the deficit... let's give a tax break to the wealthiest Americans!
