Guess Where I Am Going This Weekend!
Back to Philadelphia! The city where I lived for sixteen years... the best years of my life. My husband was transferred there for his job in 1989. We came as strangers, but we found so many good friends, wonderful neighbors, great restaurants, a bustling, cultural city, and beautiful surrounding areas (Bucks County, the Brandywine Valley, New Hope, etc.)
We felt at home there. I thrived there. I became a different person there. I had grown up fairly sheltered in the Midwest, went to college in the Midwest, and had always lived in the Midwest. I became an "east coaster". I learned to love so many things there. We traveled a lot with good friends while we lived there.... Israel, Greece, Turkey, France, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean. So many wonderful memories!
We are going back to visit our traveling friends. They are having an engagement party for their daughter. I don't think we will go back to see our house there. I still get too emotional when I see it and realize it's not mine anymore.
I will post some photos next week. Please forgive my gushing... I'm way too emotional!

aww..it's so nice when you love a place! i'm going on the 22nd, though not to fairmount park, unfortunately...d's relatives thought it might be too cold...
I hope you have a great time, I also hope that when you have had all the fun you can, you realize that you you can't wait to get home... This always proves to me that I'm getting used to my new home... Although, now that I think about it, I have never lived in the same place for more than 10yrs..Hmmmm
It is a great area to spend time! I was a PA girl, born & raised, so I also have a soft spot!
I too was born and raised in Midwest, but since '68 have lived in Pa or Va.
You have lots of traveing memories too!
Hope you are having a good weekend.

Oh, honey. I'm sorry you ever had to leave. To hear you write about it like that and know it's gone. There is a house and a ranch that have left those feelings in me. I know how you feel. I have been there. I had to make myself KNOW that that wasn't necessarily the best thing I would ever do...or the best me I'd ever be...or the best time I would ever have. Otherwise I would have been closed to the future...and of course, to the present. Think about it.
Enjoy yourself and have a wonderful time. Eat some of that street food you love.
hugs, hugs, hugs!!
I love the picture of your deck. It was great seeing you guys again. I'll look forward to seeing you again on the 1st! It's really not John that said this but Karen. But you knew that huh?
Thank you all for your comments. We had a wonderful time! We love our friends and neighbors there.
