Boone County, Kentucky, where I live, is an interesting place. We are just 20 minutes from Cincinnati and close to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Parts of this county look like a typical suburb, but most of it is very rural. There are miles and miles of country roads and farms. We are home to such places as the tiny, historic hamlet of Rabbit Hash. Here are some highlights:
We drive just five minutes from our house and find ourselves on a country road just like this.
Another fifteen minutes or so and we arrive in Rabbit Hash, located on the banks of the Ohio River. Rabbit Hash is a "hamlet" which means a community smaller than a village. According to Wikipedia, the population can't be accurately counted because it's unincorporated; however, it has been estimated between four and forty. Having been there myself, I believe it's closer to forty than four.
Rabbit Hash was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. The most famous landmark is the general store. See the general store, below. If you look closely, you can see the Ohio River in the background.
The merchandise is mostly old, and it's always in kind of a jumble.
On the weekends, there is often live music inside, bluegrass and zydeco is prevalent here.
There is a barn around the corner. Barn dances are held here once a month.

Just about every weekend, there is some kind of live music in Rabbit Hash.
Across the street there is the Rabbit Hash Mercantile, an antiques shop and some old gas pumps.
It's a colorful place. If you come to visit, I will probably take you there.

It looks fascinating, and fun!
It is fun, lots to explore in such a small place. During the week it's very quiet but the weekends are always lively there.
