The Problem With November

Every year, I hate turning the clock back. Yes, I get an extra hour of sleep; that part's not bad. The problem is, it gets dark so early in the day. When I was working, it was already dark when I came home, which made me feel like the day was already gone and I had missed it all.

Also, the month of November seems to usher in the true beginning of winter weather (at least where I live). At the beginning of November, things look like this:

By the end of November, it's beginning to look more like this:

I wouldn't mind if winter lasted a couple of months. You know, change of seasons and all that. But, around here, it just lasts too long. We have Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then three more long months of winter.

That's why my dream would be to live in Hawaii one day. It always looks like this:

People often say to me, "but wouldn't you miss the change of seasons?". No, no that much!

I think this november might be an exception though...in the 60s this week! i know we are still in the early portion of november, but one can hope! i bet it will be milder than last winter.

Living in Paradise will slow the aging process. No more heavy creams for chapped hands and cheeks. Pineapple and papaya for breakfast will make your skin glow. You'll find exercise to replace snow shoveling. Get thee packing!

Yes, I can always hope for a mild winter, Bearette. I hope for that every year!

Gardn, it's true! If I lived in paradise I would get plenty of exercise walking on the beach, and I've noticed whenever I'm in Hawaii my allergies disappear, my arthritis clears up, and I just feel better!

Natalie, it's still a dream of mine. I go to visit as often as I can.

Never lived in Hawaii, but I did live in South Florida for most of my life and I can tell you the lack of seasons starts to get old after a while.
