This is a Croatian fisherman who has an entrepreneurial spirit. We went to visit his home in the countryside, where we met his family, tasted his wine and brandy and bread made by his mother. He entertained us, toasted us, and displayed Croatian handicrafts for us to admire and buy.
This is his house. The fish on the front identifies this as the home of a fisherman.
Inside, he narrated a slide show about Croatian's history. You can see his mother and one of his sons on the right. We tasted bread made by his mother and wine and brandy they make there. I bought two bottles of his cherry brandy, which was delicious.
In the background is a slide showing the water tower in the town of Vukovar. It was badly damaged in the war and has been left in that condition as a remembrance of the war.
In this photo, he is framing himself so we can take his picture. He was truly irrepressible.
The area is known as a habitat for storks. We saw representations of it here.
What an interesting time we had. What great weather, too. I have written about Hungary and Croatia. After those, we went on to Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania. A lot more to come…

You can tell his energy just by the photos! The toys and carvings look interesting as does the housing.
