Why Do I Love Hawaii So Much?

Remember when Dorothy arrived in Oz? Her world was in black and white. Then she opened the door into Oz and everything was in color? That's how I felt the first time I arrived in Hawaii. In those days the airport in Maui was all outdoors, so we exited the plane right on the tarmac. I was standing in line with the other passengers, waiting for the door to be opened. Then the door opened and I felt the Hawaiian air. It felt soft and smelled like flowers. I had never experienced air like that before. That was the beginning of my love affair with Hawaii.

Where else are rainbows so reliable?

Where else can you stand on shore and see humpback whales jumping and diving?

Where else can you see scenes like this?

and this?

and this?

(That road you can barely see snaking around is the Road to Hana, which is one of my favorite drives.)

This is how I feel when I'm in Hawaii. I'm just a happier, better person.

Kathrin, thank you for leading me Angie's blog. I've been enjoying the photos she took when they flew to Hana... I love Hana! I would love to fly there, too. We have driven there several times and stayed there for a week.
