Quilting on the Big Island

I have always loved Hawaiian quilts. The designs are based on nature, and are intricate and colorful. While we were on vacation in Hawaii I took a class on how to create one. There I am (third from left) learning how to make a Hawaiian style quilt. It was a great experience!

So smart! I love the idea of coming home from a vacation with new skills, especially ones that are a beautiful part of my memories of the place I was visiting. Please show us your finished work. And I love seeing You in Hawaii!

Very cool! There's actually a book about Hawaiian quilts, The Aloha Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini. You might enjoy it.

Beautiful! I've always liked Hawaiian quilts, too, but haven't the courage to try making one. I enjoyed your photos of Hawaii. We drove the road to Hana years ago. A thousand turns, a thousand waterfalls? Something like that! Hawaii is such a beautiful place.
