Veterans' Day

This made me cry; I remember Vietnam.

  1. It is the same here Judy. Australia had a welcome home parade in Sydney in 1987 (!!) I suppose on the premise of better late than never.
Our South Australian Vietnam Veterans memorial was built and dedicated on the 15th October, 200 long overdue - too long.
The Vietnam Forces National Memorial was dedicated in October 1992, in our national capital, Canberra.
Husband and I visited Canberra about 15 years ago - walking through the Vietnam Veterans Memorial he burst into tears. "Whew" he said "I wasn't expecting that". He and his friends were too young to be involved at the time, particularly politically, but being older I remember it well.
The issue of involvement in that war divided our family - for the vets though, the repercussions are still ongoing. Thank you for posting this poignant tribute.

  3. It's interesting to know the effect the war had on your country too. It affected so many lives and so many families. Thank you for your comment.
