First Day of My Boycott

Okay, yesterday I swore off watching news about politics... it's just too maddening and depressing.   It was making me nuts!  I never learn anything anyway; I know what is coming out of their mouths before they even say a word.  Same old lines, same old lies.

So what did I do today instead of watching politicians bash each other on cable news?  This morning I put this wreath together for the front door.  By the way, you can see that we decided to paint the door red!  (Kind of a Pinot Noir color, don't you think?)

See the black kitty in the middle?  I have a real live black kitty in the house.  We adopted her as a stray and named her Munchkin.  She is the most affectionate cat we have ever had.

Wake Me When It's Over

I am usually a "news junkie".  I read the newspapers.  I watch TV news.  I read about it on the internet.  I take pride in being an informed citizen and voter.  However, I can't take it anymore!  Our Congress reminds me of little kids arguing and pointing fingers:  "he started it!"  "No, he started it" and on and on and on.

It's too disgusting, too frightening, too nerve wracking to follow what is going on in Washington D.C.  It makes me worry about our future.  It makes me stress out too much.  It puts me in a bad mood and raises my blood pressure.

So I am boycotting the news.  I'm going to focus on other things.  I'm going to declutter and organize, talk to friends, do some sewing and quilting, try out new recipes, walk on the treadmill, walk outside, read novels.  Maybe I will take up painting.  My life is not going to be affected by the trials and tribulations going on in our government.

Someone, wake me when it's over!

Government Shutdown

I emailed the White House asking why President Obama can't issue an Executive Order to reopen the government. I believe we are facing safety and security issues by shutting down so many essential services.

A Few More Outer Banks Photos...

I always take a lot of photos when I'm on vacation.  I take my camera everywhere and snap photos constantly.  My companions always have to put up with me stopping to take a shot, or on the beach stopping to pick up shells. Then I have to run and catch up with them.

Before digital cameras I was always running out of film.  Now, no worries.

A Great Time with Good Friends

We moved away from the Philadelphia area about seven years ago to be closer to family.  We miss our friends in Philadelphia.  We often get together for special occasions and to take vacations.  We met them for a vacation in the Outer Banks.  As usual, we had a wonderful time.  Here are some photos from our trip.

My philosophy, and I follow it as often as I can:

"May you always have a shell in your pocket and sand in your shoes."

Existentialism

Exploring A Restored Village

One day we explored Historic Corolla Village.  Original village buildings have been restored and have become series of shops, museums and a school.

Village Schoolhouse:

Island Bookstore:

Old Boathouse:

Places to rest for a moment:

Shops full of interesting things:

A shop that supports the Wild Horse Fund:

So much to see and do.  I took so many photos.  I still have a few more left... for later.
