Saturday Night in the Big City

Last Saturday, we went to the big city for the evening.  Cincinnati is on the Ohio River.  We live south of the river in Kentucky.  When you cross the bridge into Ohio, you are in the "big city".  That's where all the entertainment is.

The round building with all the windows is a restaurant.  It's called The Boathouse.  It sits right on the Ohio River, and has nice views of the river and the city skyline.

The Boathouse is one of three restaurants called the Montgomery Inn.  The Montgomery Inn is famous for ribs.  The owner is called "the ribs king".  They say many celebrities like to eat here when they are in town, and some people have the ribs shipped to them in other states.

This picture was on the wall by our table.  It's "the ribs king" with Johnny Bench, who used to be a really big deal in Cincinnati.  He's still one of my favorites.  Every time I go to a Reds game and see the catcher behind the plate, I picture Johnny Bench there.  In my mind, I'm stuck in the 70s.

Then we went to see a play at the Playhouse in the Park.  It's one of our favorite places to go in Cincinnati.

It has won two Tony awards.

It's a very cool place.

We had season tickets to the Playhouse when we lived here back in the 80s.  Now that we are back in the area, we have season tickets again.

I love Saturday nights!

Signs of Old Age?

I woke up this morning feeling like I had been hit by a big truck.  Everything ached, especially my neck and back. My husband has been limping around the house, suffering from plantar fasciitis.  I got out the heating pad for my back, and he got a tub of ice water for his foot.  Exciting around here, isn't it?

Aging is no fun.

Tiger Shows Off

Tiger loves batting the ball around.  I took this video with my iPhone; I couldn't make it bigger.

From Winter to Spring

WINTER:

Kitty tracks on the deck by the food dishes, last week when snow was on the ground.

SPRING:

Today, the first day it was warm enough to open the windows.  The kitties are happy!

First Day of School

Have you seen this ad?  I think the expressions on their faces are perfect.  They mirror each other so well.

Another Snow Day

We got about three inches of snow last night.  Towns to the north of us got quite a bit more.  Schools are closed and interstates are a mess.  I am at home with the fireplace burning.  Ah, the joys of retirement!

See the two igloos in the background?  That's where the feral kitties come in from the cold.  If you look really close, you can see the kitty inside.

Alberta Clipper Coming!

Tonight we are going to experience an "Alberta Clipper".  Cold air is going to swoop down upon us and bring five to eight inches of snow.  So, tomorrow morning we will look out our windows and see a world covered in snow.

The anticipation inspired me, so I started looking for images of snow.  First, I found the snow sculpture, made out of snow:

Then I saw this cool fort:

And this gathering of snowmen at a Snow Festival in Japan:

So many snow sculptures:

In China, they hold a Snow Festival every year.  At night, it looks like their version of Disneyland.

Look at the people coming through the tunnels, in the foreground above.  Below you can see the tunnels leading up to the castle:

It looks like a fairyland, or the Emerald City (except it's maybe the Amethyst City).  How cool!  (freezingly)
