Preparing for the Arctic Blast

Today is sunny and slightly above zero.  Tomorrow we are forecast to get subzero temperatures, sleet, snow and gusty winds.

So we spent the morning outdoors preparing our "kitty world" in the back yard.  We have a small colony of feral kitties that we have had spayed and neutered.  We feed them and provide shelter.

About a week ago, a new foursome appeared at our door… tiny kittens.  We have no ideas where they came from as all of our regulars have been "fixed".

We decided the unusually frigid weather on the way calls for upgrading the shelters and protecting the food and water dishes.  We went to the local farm supply and got a bale of straw to line the shelters.  We got an extra heated water dish for the new little kitties.  We added extra shelters to the area beneath our deck, hoping they would be somewhat out of the wind.

I hope they all do well.

P.S.  Two of my favorite blogs:  29 Black Street and Textilosophy Oz have been deleted, according to Blogger.  Does anyone know why this happened?  They are both based outside the United States; could that have something to do with it?

  1. I want to scoop those kitties up and love on them! They are adorable. Thank you! Thank you for the extra measures you are taking for them.

How odd that two blogs should disappear at once. I've not seen that happen to any blogs I follow, but one blogging friend stopped posting suddenly, and never posted again... we exchanged many comments, and I felt very engaged with her. I've tried everything I could think of to figure it out... and it makes me sad to think that she may have simply passed away.

  2. Yes, they are adorable! We would love to tame them.

The blog thing puzzles me… they were both very regular bloggers and never indicated they were about to stop. I wonder if it might be a "glitch" with Blogger.

  5. Hi. If you Google Susan Black design you will find her other blog, which she used primarily for her design work. Read back one or two posts and you will find the explanation. I don't know the bother blog, I'm afraid.
You are kind to those kittens! Good luck with the weather.

Mary, I hope we can do enough for them. It's supposed to be well below zero here tomorrow.

  8. Pam… I can't find your email. I have had two email sites disappear. Can you try judy21712@yahoo.com?
    Thanks.

  9. New Year kittens - lucky you! And such pretty ones; I hope they thrive.

Susan Black is still trying to get her blog sorted; it seems that something bad was done to it elsewhere, and Blogger removed it. Fingers crossed it works out for her.

Best wishes to you and yours for the coming year!
