Zip's Cafe has been in the same location on Mt. Lookout Square since 1926. They serve the best burgers and onion rings in Cincinnati. It's always packed. There are TVs on the walls and a model train runs around up on the wall.
The main room was packed so we sat at the bar. That's really more fun anyway. (A bit dark, though.)
Then we went to another Cincinnati favorite: Graeter's Ice Cream Parlor. If you haven't heard of Graeter's ice cream, you just haven't been paying attention. It's a Cincinnati icon.
Then we saw a movie at my favorite theater in the area, the Mariemont Theater. It's not a big cineplex, it's a neighborhood theater than shows movies for real movie lovers, not the bit blockbusters. The people who come here are adults who don't text or talk during the show.
The Village of Mariemont is a destination of its own. It began as a planned community in the 1920s, has pretty parks and fountains and tree-lined streets.

You are the first to make me want to visit Ohio... I haven't been avoiding it, just never considered it, until now~
ReplyDeleteHello, friend!
Wow, I'm really pleased by your comment, Natalie. There are some nice places, especially around Cincinnati.
ReplyDeleteNow I want to eat at Zip's Cafe
ReplyDeleteI think you would love it! It's authentic.
ReplyDeleteI love those tree-lined streets - reminiscent of all those U.S. films or series where the kids are packing the car to leave for college...or you see such a leafy scene behind the young man as he arrives to take his date to the prom.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing these happy scenes and history from the States Judy!
Pam, I grew up on a street lined with trees. I still love them. When I look to buy a property, the trees are just as important as the house.
ReplyDeleteI love those scenes you describe, too. I saw those scenes come to life when I visited Villa Nova, PA.
What a lovely journey! Cheers from snowy SE Ont.!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn, first snow here this morning?
