I have up days and down days. On up days I wake up feeling energetic and ready to take on the world. I feel motivated and decisive. I can tackle the most daunting task. I with every day could be like this.
On down days I feel like my brain is fuzzy and I have a lead weight pulling me down. I can't decide what to do. I don't feel like I can accomplish anything, and nothing seems worth doing anyway.
Fortunately, there are more up days than down days, but I wish I could eliminate the down days all together.
On up days I feel like this:
On down days, more like this:
Can anyone relate to this?
Oh yes! Days when I could lead the country, sort out every problem, clear out every murky corner. Days when I do the bare minimum to get me through the day; when I really do not care what the world and his wife are up to.
ReplyDeleteWith me, this is partly due to pain levels and how I have slept. My husband is not the quietest of sleepers either, so that doesn't help. I've also found as I've got older that I really have to eat well. I have coeliac (celiac in American) and successfully avoid all gluten, so it's not that. It's more a question of making sure that I have lots of fresh veg and as much nutrition as possible, without, of course, putting on weight. I am convinced that the quality of food has a significant effect on our health, both mental and physical.
And then there's the weather!!! Here in the UK we have had one of the longest, most miserable winters in living memory. Spring is reckoned to be a month late, and that was after having a miserable summer last year.
It's a wonder any of us get out of bed at all, really!
You make some interesting observations. I think I need to be more careful about what I eat. I suspect I eat too much "white" food and sugar.
ReplyDeleteThe weather affects me too. Sunny days help, but I don't like it too hot either.
My husband is not a quiet sleeper. He's up and down all night, jiggles his legs and flops back and forth. We finally adopted separate bedrooms, so my sleep is better.
I hope you have a pleasant spring and summer this year!
Oh! You know it!
ReplyDeleteUps and downs, here, too.
I'm in good company, Natalie. I wish you many more up days than down days!
ReplyDeleteof course! i think sleep has a lot to do with it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a pretty good sleeper. I think my diet could use some work, though.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately husband and I feel and look like the last picture. Family and friends have told us to go easy as we have had twelve months now of health and family crises and there is no more fuel left in the energy tank.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly don't have days where we feel we could lead the country or take on the world. We eat carefully and well, so it's not that. I just think sometimes even nutritionally-sound boxers are out for the count, or need to retire to the corner!
We had an event at the pub a few nights ago with family and friends to farewell the last 12 months and to say 'onwards and upwards' - so here's to coming 'up' days!
I agree with you family and friends, Pam. You have been through a lot of stress. I had a whole string of "down days" when my stepdad died and my mom needed a lot of help.
