With all the rain and clouds and gloom we've been having recently, Sunday was the first nice day we've had in a while. So, we put the top down on the convertible and went for a drive.
Winding country roads in Kentucky are ideal for a leisurely drive.
Lots of barns...
Some of the barns have quilts painted on them. Our county has a group of people who paint these on barns throughout the area.
Homes with long driveways:
We're driving on River Road, following along beside the Ohio River.
If you like, you can take the Anderson Ferry across the river to Ohio. This ferry has been in business since 1817. The trip across the river takes all of five minutes.
After a while, we come to a small town. Truly towns "where if you blink you miss it".
As we drive along these roads in rural Kentucky, we occasionally come across these signs warning "Congested Area". Not sure why.
Finally we come to the small town of Ludlow, Kentucky.
This is our destination: the Ludlow-Bromley Yacht Club. You know you are there when you see the shark...
Or the rowboat:
It floats on the river. People come via the road in their cars, and via the river in their boats.
It's a fun place to hang out. You can watch the boats and barges on the river, eat and drink, and listen to the music. Oh, and watch the people.
