"Me and My Friends... "
I feel a rant coming on! One of my pet peeves is hearing bad grammar from people who should know better. It seems there is an epidemic of it these days. It really bothers me.
The biggest one is this: "Me and my friends... "
I heard it this morning on the Today show. A college student on spring break in the audience: "Me and my friends came to New York for spring break". Why can't she say "My friends and I came to New York for spring break".
Listen, people... it should be "My friends and I" NOT "Me and my friends"!
I first noticed this coming from the Kardashian girls. Just one of many things that bug me about the Kardashians. They all say it. "Me and my sister"; "Me and my boyfriend", and on and on and on. They sound so ignorant! And it's not just the girls. I saw their mother, Kris, on a show and she said it too: "Me and Bruce", Me and the girls".
My husband thinks I am neurotic to get so upset about this. I was ranting about it this morning, and he said "uh, excuse me, but I have something to do in the other room". He thinks its really boring and a little crazy of me.
But I can't help it. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me (does anyone remember chalkboards?).
Love, from:
My son says "Me and (whoever it is)" and it drives me nuts!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a younger generation thing!
