Staying Home...

I was supposed to go to Michigan this weekend with my husband. He is being honored by his high school there, by being inducted into their Hall of Fame. He was so excited and happy when he got the news. His daughter and granddaughter are flying in from Caifornia to attend.

Yesterday, I was all packed and ready to go... but then I got sick. An hour before we were supposed to leave, I got chills and nausea, and started shaking uncontrollably. I was shaking so hard that it made my head and neck hurt. I had a fever of 101.4. He took me to the doctor, where I received an antibiotic shot and a prescription for oral antibiotics. They did a blood test, which shows a high white blood cell count. I don't know what the high white blood cell count means. The same thing happened about six months ago. I don't know whether to be sad or angry; it seems something inside me is turning against me.

Of course, I was disappointed not to be able to go. I am sitting by the fireplace, keeping warm and drinking tea. It's the right thing to be doing under the circumstances, I know. We are supposed to have a big snow storm late today and all day tomorrow, so I will just be staying here watching it from my window.

I hope you feel well soon enough to find pleasure in the weather, the fire, the quiet house... something.
    More (((hugs)))
