I was feeling sorry for myself yesterday, because I was sick and had to miss a big event in Michigan. My next-door neighbor invited me over, knowing I was feeling blue. At first I didn't think I would feel like going out, but later I decided it might be good to get out of the house. So, last night I went over for a short visit. I sipped on a glass of wine and cheered up a little. It was nice to have some company.
My husband had called me from a restaurant where the whole group was having lunch. It was so noisy in the background, as they talked and laughed; they were having a great time. His nephew had surprised everyone by flying in from California, and I spoke to him on the phone too. I was so sorry to be missing out on all the fun. But just visiting next door and sipping a glass of wine made up for it a little.
This morning I feel better. I got up and cleaned up my "sick room" from yesterday. Yesterday I didn't feel like picking anything up, so the room was strewn with tissues, empty glasses, etc. Today I will rest by the fire and look out the window at the four inches of snow that fell during the night. It will be nice to stay home today. I have a couple of books I've been meaning to read, and I might take a nap, too.
