Next time I will put a pinch in to see what the difference is. I often experiment a bit with recipes anyway. I cut back a bit on the cinnamon too, as I have found in general that I prefer a bit less of it in savory dishes.
The recipe is great comfort food... I love to have it ready so I can just come home and heat it up.
So, not too clove-ish... it was just right!judy in kyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05810068743975026564noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4101571539062052986.post-35557469017899706842008-12-04T15:58:00.000-08:002008-12-04T15:58:00.000-08:00Hi Judy, I just made the cabbage roll casserole ag...Hi Judy, I just made the cabbage roll casserole again and I think I may have overdone the spice measurements in my written recipe - specifically the cinnamon & cloves. Change to 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/8th -1/4 cloves (or of course to taste). Cloves are lovely but too much cloves is never a good thing. The pinch of nutmeg stays. I love nutmeg and I prefer freshly ground. If you'd like the casserole to be more tomato-ey I would stir in a small can of tomato sauce along with the diced tomatoes.

Hope your first casserole wasn't too clove- ish.
